2010 Master Gardener State Conference to be held in
Tippecanoe County at Purdue University, June 18-19, 2010
AAS Display gardens provide the public the opportunity to see the AAS flower and vegetable winners for the last 5 years. These plants were selected as excellent performers for home gardens. AAS gardens have182 locations in the United States and Canada, four in Indiana. The first AAS garden in 1962 was Norseco, Inc. in Quebec, Canada.
Idea gardens show various aspects of gardening, test plots demonstrate different ways to grow and manage a home garden plot. A three Sisters garden with plants from early America, Butterfly garden, heirloom plants grown by our grandparents, to broom corn and sunflowers over 10’ tall and the Kids Bean Maze.Our 18 Idea Gardens show various aspects of
gardening, they include a Canna Garden, Butterfly Garden, Raspberry
Garden, Sunflower Room and Rainbow Garden.
New for 2010 is the Dahlia Garden, Colonial Garden, Scented
Garden, Daisy Garden and others.
Children’s and Gigantic's gardens, have areas for families and friends to enjoy in the outdoors. Giant pumpkins, sunflowers, watermelons, cantaloupes, tomatoes, yard long beans, giant radishes and much more, a fun way to find out more about plants.
Master gardener volunteers tend the gardens and share information with the public on plants and garden ideas. The gardens are open sunrise to sunset, located next to the Extension office on Sagamore Parkway South.
